Buhari Mourns Death of APC Chairman in South Africa
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in South Africa, Dr Taiye Abe, who died at the age of 65.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, Buhari described Abe as a patriotic Nigerian who was deeply committed to the ideals of the APC.
The President said the late party chairman demonstrated what he considered an exceptional love for Nigeria and remained dedicated to the country’s progress throughout his life.
Buhari extended his condolences to Abe’s family, friends, colleagues and members of the APC in South Africa, urging them to remain strong during the period of mourning.
“God will comfort you at this time of sorrow,” Buhari said.
Reflecting on his interactions with the deceased, the President said Abe had consistently expressed hope for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
According to Buhari, the late APC chairman believed that Nigeria could overcome its challenges and assume a more prominent position among nations.
“Dr Abe looked forward to a Nigeria that would take its rightful place among the comity of nations, and passionately believed in a resurgent country we could all be proud of,” the President said.
Buhari also urged members of the APC in South Africa to sustain Abe’s political vision and commitment to the party.
He described the deceased as a good ambassador of Nigeria and a dedicated representative of the APC in the diaspora.
The President further assured Nigerians that his administration would continue working towards the development of the country.
“We will not relent in working towards that goal,” Buhari said.
