Tinubu Urges Fayemi to Reposition Governors’ Forum for National Development

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi on his election as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), urging him to reposition the forum to contribute more effectively to national development.

Tinubu made the call in a congratulatory letter to Fayemi in Lagos.

Fayemi emerged as chairman of the NGF by consensus after being nominated by Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and seconded by Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Tinubu said Fayemi’s emergence reflected the confidence his fellow governors had in his leadership ability and experience.

He urged the new NGF chairman to use the forum to advance discussions on fiscal federalism and support President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in its development agenda.

Tinubu expressed confidence that Fayemi would perform well in the position, citing his political and administrative experience.

According to him, Fayemi’s previous service as governor of Ekiti State, his tenure as Minister of Mines and Steel Development, and his return to office as governor had prepared him for the responsibility.

Tinubu described Fayemi as competent and experienced, adding that his election by fellow governors was a demonstration of their respect for him.

He encouraged Fayemi to build an effective team capable of strengthening the Governors Forum and making it a more influential platform for cooperation among states.

Tinubu also urged the NGF under Fayemi’s leadership to pay particular attention to issues relating to fiscal federalism and the relationship between federal and state governments.

He expressed hope that the forum would continue to play a constructive role in addressing national challenges and promoting development across the country.
