Ndidi Equals Yobo and Victor Moses’ Premier League Appearance Record
Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has become the third Nigerian player to feature in every Premier League match of a single season.
The Super Eagles midfielder started Leicester’s final league game of the 2018-19 campaign against Chelsea at the King Power Stadium, taking his total appearances for the season to 38.
Ndidi started 37 of those matches, underlining his importance to Leicester throughout the campaign.
Former Everton defender Joseph Yobo was the first Nigerian to achieve the feat, appearing in all 38 Premier League matches during the 2006-07 season.
Yobo started and completed every game for Everton that campaign, playing a total of 3,420 league minutes.
Victor Moses later matched the record with Wigan Athletic during the 2011-12 season, featuring in all 38 league matches before moving to Chelsea.
Ndidi’s achievement was particularly impressive given his defensive midfield role, which regularly involves tackles and physical challenges.
He also managed to avoid suspension and a red card throughout the season, allowing him to remain available for every Premier League fixture.
The achievement places Ndidi alongside Yobo and Moses among the small group of Nigerian players to complete an entire 38-game Premier League season without missing a match.
