Iwobi Accepts Arsenal’s £70,000-Per-Week Contract Offer
Arsenal and Nigeria forward Alex Iwobi has reportedly agreed to a new five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2023.
Iwobi had been linked with a possible move to Serie A side Lazio, but reports in England indicated that he was set to commit his future to Arsenal.
The Super Eagles attacker was expected to formally sign the new deal after Arsenal returned from their pre-season tour of Singapore.
New manager Unai Emery was understood to have held positive talks with Iwobi and assured him that he remained part of his plans for the coming season.
Iwobi made 40 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions during the previous campaign, scoring three goals.
The new contract was reported to be worth around £70,000 per week and represented a significant show of confidence in the Nigerian international.
Arsenal were scheduled to face Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in Singapore as part of their preparations for the new season and the International Champions Cup.
