PDP Accuses APC of Fresh Plot to Smear Ademola Adeleke
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of plotting to discredit its Osun State governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, through fresh allegations concerning his academic records.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP claimed that after earlier attempts to question the authenticity of Adeleke’s school certificate failed, some APC leaders were now seeking to portray his school testimonial as forged.
The opposition party alleged that the latest controversy was intended to damage Adeleke’s reputation and influence public perception of him.
According to the PDP, it had received information that a former commissioner in Osun State had allegedly contacted senior security officials in an attempt to have Adeleke and the principal of Ede Muslim High School, Kadili Adejare Abass, arrested and embarrassed over the disputed documents.
The party further alleged that money had been offered to some security personnel to facilitate the arrest and prosecution of Adeleke and the school principal on what it described as fabricated charges.
The PDP did not provide independent evidence to substantiate the allegations but maintained that the alleged plan was part of a broader attempt to undermine Adeleke following the disputed 2018 Osun governorship election.
It also claimed that some individuals linked to the APC were attempting to gain unauthorised access to school records in order to alter documents connected with Adeleke’s academic history.
The PDP warned that any interference with official school records could affect not only Adeleke but also other former and current students whose academic documents were held by the institution.
The party described the alleged actions as politically motivated and accused the APC of refusing to accept the tribunal judgment that had declared Adeleke winner of the governorship election.
It therefore urged the APC to abandon what it described as attempts to discredit Adeleke and instead pursue any grievances through lawful and established processes.
The PDP also called on residents of Osun State and other Nigerians to remain vigilant against actions it claimed were designed to undermine the outcome of the governorship dispute and damage Adeleke’s reputation.
