The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to resume the collation and announcement of results from the Rivers State governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, disclosed this on Thursday during a press conference at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

According to Okoye, the electoral body would resume the collation and announcement of results in Rivers State between April 2 and April 5.

He explained that the commission had reviewed the situation in the state and developed a timetable for concluding the electoral process following the earlier suspension of activities.

INEC also scheduled April 13 for supplementary elections in areas where additional voting was considered necessary.

Okoye said the supplementary polls would also cover constituencies where elections could proceed without being affected by pending court cases.

The commission assured residents and political stakeholders that it was committed to concluding the Rivers elections in accordance with electoral laws and ensuring that outstanding results were properly collated and announced.
