Tiwa Savage, Tekno, Yemi Alade, Burna Boy Feature on Beyoncé’s The Lion King Album
Beyoncé has unveiled the track list for The Lion King: The Gift, an album inspired by Disney’s remake of The Lion King, with several leading African artists featured on the project.
Nigerian stars Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi appear together on “Keys to the Kingdom,” while Mr Eazi also joins Tekno and Yemi Alade on “Don’t Jealous Me.”
Burna Boy has a solo track titled “Ja Ara E,” while Cameroonian singer Salatiel features alongside Beyoncé and Pharrell Williams on “Water.”
Other African artists on the album include Wizkid, Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale and South African performers Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly.
Beyoncé said the project was created with a strong emphasis on African influence, explaining that she wanted both performers and producers from the continent to play a major role.
She said authenticity and emotional connection were important in shaping the album.
The Lion King: The Gift also features collaborations with international stars including Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams and Childish Gambino, as well as Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy.
The album is separate from the official soundtrack to The Lion King, although Beyoncé’s song “Spirit,” which includes Swahili elements, appears on both projects.
