Pinnick Says Nigeria Will Win the FIFA World Cup One Day
President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will one day win the FIFA World Cup.
Pinnick made the statement in Uyo after participating in the maiden novelty match between the SWAN Selected team and the Akwa Ibom Sports Arena team.
The NFF president said he decided to honour the invitation to take part in the match, joking that his absence might otherwise have been interpreted as either an injury or unwillingness to participate.
Pinnick featured for the SWAN Selected side throughout the second half of the game.
He also praised Nigerian sports journalists, describing them as important partners in the development and promotion of football in the country.
According to him, cooperation between football administrators and the sports media remains important to the growth of the game.
“We believe in working together. It has been an amazing support from sports journalists. One day we will win the World Cup,” Pinnick said.
His comments reflected his optimism about the long-term prospects of Nigerian football and the possibility of the Super Eagles eventually competing successfully for the sport’s biggest international prize.
