Nigerians Identify Suspected Thug Who Allegedly Attacked Lagos Protesters, Call for His Arrest
Nigerians on social media have called for the arrest of a man they alleged was among those who attacked #EndSARS protesters at the Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday morning.
During the incident, a protester documenting the attack captured an image of a man allegedly holding a cutlass as protesters were confronted by suspected thugs.
Social media users subsequently circulated the photograph and claimed that the individual had been identified as Adagun Rasheed Osha.
The identification was based largely on information users said they found on social media accounts believed to be connected to the suspect. The claim had not been independently verified by law-enforcement authorities at the time.
Following the circulation of the photograph, several Nigerians called on the police to investigate the incident, identify those responsible for the attack and prosecute anyone found to have committed an offence.
The attack added to concerns over the safety of #EndSARS demonstrators as protests against police brutality continued in Lagos and other parts of the country.
