Gareth Bale Left Out of Real Madrid Squad for Munich Friendlies
Gareth Bale’s future at Real Madrid remained uncertain after the Welsh forward was left out of the club’s squad for two pre-season friendly matches in Munich.
Real Madrid were due to face Bale’s former club Tottenham Hotspur, but the 30-year-old did not travel with the team.
Reports in Spain said Bale remained behind as discussions over his future continued.
He had been linked with a move to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning, who were reportedly prepared to offer him a lucrative three-year contract.
However, the proposed transfer stalled following disagreements over the financial terms of the deal.
Jiangsu later signed Croatian striker Ivan Santini from Anderlecht, raising further doubts over whether Bale would still move to China.
Spanish media subsequently suggested that a return to the Premier League could become an option for the former Tottenham player.
Bale had previously indicated a willingness to remain at Real Madrid, but his relationship with coach Zinedine Zidane appeared strained.
With the English transfer window approaching its deadline, any potential Premier League move would have to be completed quickly.
Bale’s absence from the Munich squad therefore added to speculation that Real Madrid were prepared to allow him to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.
