Arsenal Midfielder Ceballos Reveals New Premier League Restart Date
Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos has claimed that the Premier League is expected to resume on June 20 following the suspension caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Premier League clubs had unanimously agreed to move into the first phase of “Project Restart,” allowing players to return to training under strict restrictions.
Coronavirus testing was also carried out across clubs, with six individuals connected to Premier League teams testing positive.
Ceballos said the English top flight was targeting a return one week later than Spain’s La Liga, which was being discussed for a June 12 restart.
“We are going to start a week late with respect to what is being talked about in Spain, which is June 12, and we are going to start the league on the 20th,” Ceballos told RTVE.
The Spanish midfielder also revealed that Arsenal’s players had undergone coronavirus tests and returned negative results.
“Forty-eight hours ago we passed the tests and the truth is that the entire team have given a negative result,” he said.
Ceballos, who was on loan at Arsenal from Real Madrid, also addressed speculation about his future.
He made it clear that he remained a Real Madrid player and still hoped to establish himself at the Spanish club.
“I am a Real Madrid player and any player in the world would like to play for Real Madrid,” Ceballos said.
“I have a contract with them for three more years and they are the ideal team to succeed.”
