Chelsea Block Michy Batshuayi Loan Move to Monaco, Says Club Chief

Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has revealed that Chelsea blocked Michy Batshuayi’s proposed loan move to the French club.

Batshuayi had spent the first half of the season on loan at Valencia but struggled to make a significant impact in Spain.

The 25-year-old was expected to undergo a medical with Monaco ahead of a possible loan move until the end of the season.

However, Vasilyev said Monaco had already reached agreements with both the player and Valencia before Chelsea halted the deal.

“We have an agreement with the player. We have an agreement with Valencia,” Vasilyev said.

“For the time being, the move has been blocked by Chelsea because they prefer to sell the player.”

The proposed Monaco deal did not include an option to buy Batshuayi permanently.

Chelsea’s preference for a permanent transfer therefore prevented the loan agreement from being completed.
